FLORENCE, Ky., Feb. 21, 2011 - Charity Night a the Tables: a Celebration of Community Giving will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Saturday, March 19, making winners of eight Northern Kentucky non-profits in a splashy night of Monte Carlo gaming. The event is scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the Maker's Mark VIP Tent at Turfway Park.

This year's participating charities are Boone County CASA, Emergency Cold Shelter of Northern Kentucky, New Perceptions Inc., Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center, Parish Kitchen, Senior Services of Northern Kentucky, Steinford Toy Foundation, and The Life Learning Center.

"The Northern Kentucky Leadership Foundation is pleased to announce the beneficiaries of this year's Charity Night at the Tables," said Executive Director Ruth Eger. "We received a record number of applications from area non-profits and then had the difficult task of selecting the recipient organizations. It is obvious that more and more of these non-profit agencies are dealing with significant reductions in funding, and we decided to increase the number of recipients from six to eight.

"We are very excited about this year's mix of non-profits," Eger continued. "They provide a broad range of services to our community and have been doing so for years—some for three, four, or more decades. With additional sponsors this year we are able to distribute more money back to these agencies to continue their good work. We are pleased that when we conclude our 10th year of celebrating community giving, we will have contributed over $270,000 toward the betterment of our community."

Charity Night is produced by the Northern Kentucky Leadership Foundation and connected to Turfway’s Kentucky Derby prep race, the $500,000 Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes. Players try their luck at roulette, poker, blackjack and other casino games, designating play-money winnings to one of the participating charities. The charity with the most “money” at the end of the night gets first pick of horses running in the Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes the following Saturday. The charity whose horse finishes best receives $10,000 for its work. The charity whose horse finishes next-best receives $6,000, and the remaining charities receive $4,000 each.

With the exception of Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes day, Turfway Park has changed its Saturday post time to 5:30 p.m., making this the first year that Charity Night at the Tables will take place during live racing.

Tickets to Charity Night at the Tables are $75 per person. Admission includes chips for the gaming tables, a grazing buffet, unlimited beer, wine, and soft drinks, and live entertainment by popular party band Naked Karate Girls.
