FLORENCE, KY . . . January 8, 2010 . . . Proud Heiress heads a field of 11 older fillies and mares in the $50,000 Wishing Well Stakes at Turfway Park Saturday as she seeks back-to-back wins in the six-furlong race.

The Wishing Well is the second start off a six-month layoff for Proud Heiress, who finished seventh in her first start back, the Holiday Inaugural at Turfway in late November. Immediately before the layoff, she finished second and third in two Grade III sprint stakes at Woodbine and was second in the Queen Stakes at Turfway. Wayne Mogge trains her at Turfway, and she has a 3-4-2 record in 12 starts on all-weather surfaces. Rodney Prescott has the mount.

Both the runner-up and the third-place finisher from the Holiday Inaugural also return for the Wishing Well. School Girl was second in the Inaugural, beaten less than a length by stablemate Coy Cat. Fourteen of School Girl’s 19 career starts and all five of her wins have come on all-weather surfaces, along with two seconds, and three thirds. Sal Gonzalez Jr. will ride fro trainer Paul McGee.

She's Extreme was third in the Holiday Inaugural, beaten a length-and-a-quarter. She also has one win in her four starts on all-weather tracks, though not recently, but has the disadvantage of the outside post in the Wishing Well. Tom Pompell, who is closing in on 2,000 career wins, will ride for trainer Greg Foley.

Rinterval (IRE) earned most of her $454,677 bankroll in Ireland before coming to the United States in 2008. In her seven starts since then, all on turf or all-weather, she has finished in the money five times, including her three most recent starts. The Wishing Well is her first start since mid-November, but she posted a bullet four-furlong breeze at Keeneland three days ago. Hector Rosario Jr. returns to Turfway to ride for trainer Eric Reed.

The field for the Wishing Well from the rail out: Firey Glow (jockey Aldo Canchano); Candy Cane, sixth in the Holiday Inaugural (John McKee); Ruffaroundtheedges (Ben Creed); Proud Heiress; Silky Kitty (Perry Ouzts); Beautiful Venue (Rex Stokes III); School Girl; Mohegan Sky (Dean Mernagh); Rinterval; Mindy Queen (Camilo Pitty); and She's Extreme.

The Wishing Well is the 10th of 11 races on Saturday's card, which begins at 1:10pm.
