FLORENCE, KY . . . December 7, 2003 . . . For the third time in four days, jockey Rafael Bejarano has won four races on a single card at Turfway Park. He had three winners last night and four on both Friday and Thursday.

Bejarano varied his win-‘em-in-a-row style by winning races 1, 3, 5, and 10 this afternoon. The track was rated fast all day.

In the first race, Nilly Style drew off late to cover the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:07.51. The filly’s winning margin was 4 1/2 lengths. The favorite, she was sent off at 8-5 and returned $5.40, $3.20, and $2.40. The purse was $7,500 for maiden claimers.

Premier Token, second choice in the third race at 5-2, took the lead at the top of the stretch and edged away to win by 1 1/4 lengths. He finished the mile in 1:41.53 and paid $7.20, $4.20, and $2.60. Premier Token was claimed out of the $6,300 race by owner/trainer Michael Morrison.

Bejarano’s third win came in Race 5 aboard Yaelforhadif, the odds-on favorite at 4-5. The filly broke her maiden in the claiming race with a winning time of 1:06.66 and paid $3.60, $2.40, and $2.10. Purse for the 5 1/2-furlong race was $10,000. Winning margin was 4 1/4 lengths.

The jockey’s fourth win needed a photo finish and his last opportunity, a $10,000 maiden claiming race for fillies and mares that closed out the Turfway card. The favorite at 6-5, Seraph won by a head in the final strides after a fight down the stretch. Winning time for the mile was 1:40.69. The winner paid $4.60, $3.00, and $2.60. Seraph was claimed by Edward Wells; her new trainer is Dennis Edwards.

Through the Holiday Meet to date, Bejarano has 18 firsts, 14 seconds, and 4 thirds from 55 mounts.

Turfway Park is closed tomorrow and Tuesday but opens again for live racing and simulcasting on Wednesday. Post time on weekday evenings is 5:30 p.m. EST. Gates open 11:15 a.m. General admission and parking are free.
