THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3: Preview
COUNT ON DIAMONDS has been off since October finishing second in two of her last three starts in Indiana. She has the speed to be well placed throughout, give her a slight edge in a wide open maiden field. SARAKAI didn’t fire going long on the dirt last time out. She should like the move back around one turn and could be tough if she handles the surface. HEARTHEADED drops in class after a nice second place finish at Churchill and looks capable of running well again tonight.
DRIFTING WIND has been running against slightly tougher and has two wins over the track. A return to that form should make him a winner tonight. NO CRIME didn’t fire last time out in his first start back since June. He should move forward off of that one and loves the Turfway track. BACK AWAY has shown some decent form on the turf and shouldn’t mind the move to the Polytrack.
CALHOUN moves back up in class in his first start since September when he finished a close fourth at Kentucky Downs. He should appreciate the shorter distance tonight and is the choice to pick up the maiden win here. MIGHTY SKY didn’t fire last time out at Keeneland, but showed some decent form before that one and looks like the one to beat if he handles the Polytrack. OPEN RANGE was third as the favorite when he was claimed last time out and would be no surprise here.
TRIBAL CUSTOM makes her first start back since October when she won four out of five at Mountaineer. She’s never been over the track at Turfway, but has had success on the synthetics before, her best makes here tough to beat here. LIMERICK LADY didn’t fire on the dirt last time out, but should like the move back to Turfway where five of her eight career wins have come. ANGELIC SCORE has been off since September when she won two in a row in impressive fashion. She has a win over the track as well and picks up Ouzts tonight.
TACOMA PARK has been idle since early October when he won three of his last four at Presque Isle. He’s never been around two turns, but has the speed to be dangerous and picks up Jimenez; give him a slight edge in a well matched field. ETERNAL RULER moves up in class after an even effort at Churchill and looks like a contender here. HAPPY TO BE HERE is inconsistent, but looks capable of running well here, if at this best.
ALWAYS LOVE APRIL has been off since October when she drew off to break her maiden by nearly ten at Belterra. She shows a solid work over the track since that one and is the choice for the win here. PINK FREUD LIVE moves up in class after being claimed at Churchill last time out when he was second as the favorite and looks like the one to beat.
TRIPLE CREEK didn’t fire at Churchill last time out, but ran a nice race in his debut at Keeneland before that one, give him the edge to pick up the maiden win here. GRANTSON comes in off a nice third place finish at Penn National and looks like a contender. KREWE CHIEF showed a great deal of improvement in his second career start and could be dangerous here.
ELUSIVE CHECKERS shows a few even efforts against slightly tougher company in her last few starts. She figures to be in a good spot on or near the lead again tonight and is the choice for the win. TOUCHY FEELY didn’t fire last time out, but ran two solid races at Indiana Grand before that one and would be no surprise here. TETRAD has been in the money in four of her six lifetime starts and is a definite contender.
LOGAN CREEK looks like he’s in a good spot to pick up the win on the move back down in class tonight. Give him the edge here with Prescott in the irons. GRACE’S DEVIL comes in off a few even efforts and has four wins over the track here at Turfway. STROKE has been over-matched against allowance company in his last four starts. He showed some decent form at this level over the summer at Belterra and has to be considered.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4: Preview
SALTY RIM didn’t fire last time out in his first start since May. He shows a nice work over the track since that one and has won over the surface before, give him a slight edge here. CLASS READY was beaten as the favorite last time out, but ran well in his two previous starts and is a contender. WALDO drops in class and looks capable of running well here.
OUR LUCKY ZIP drops back down in class after two even efforts against allowance company at Belterra and looks best in a wide open field. PERSIAN KING was second against open company at Mountaineer last time out and looks like the one to beat tonight. NO SMALL REWARDS comes in off a nice second place finish at Churchill and would be no surprise here.
I’M EXTRAORDINARY drops in class after a dull effort on the dirt at Churchill last time out and will be tough to beat here if she takes to the Polytrack. MOJA NAGRODA didn’t show much last time out, but drops in class and is a threat tonight. WISH KEEPER has a chance.
YARDBIRD MISFITS was over-matched in his last two starts but showed some decent form before those and loves the track here at Turfway. His best could make him a winner here at decent odds. MAGNETIC START shows two solid works over the track at Turfway since Ellis last start back in October when he ran two even races against tougher at Indiana Grand. Both his lifetime wins were here at Turfway and definitely looks capable of winning here on the drop back down in class. WORTH THE GAMBLE takes a big drop in class after a dull effort at Ellis back in September. He’s beaten much tougher in the past and could be tough here if he’s ready.
CAR FIFTY FOUR drops in class after two even efforts after coming back from a short layoff. He broke his maiden over the track here last winter and is the choice for the win on the move back down in class. AIN’T TOO PROUD has been third in each of his last three starts and looks like a contender again tonight. RESTRIKE drops to this bottom level for the first time and has to be considered.
KILTED COWBOY shows two solid efforts in each of his two starts since coming back from a layoff of over a year. He shouldn’t mind the move to the Polytrack tonight and is the choice to pick up the maiden win here. MY CURBY didn’t first as the favorite at the Fair Grounds is his last start back in January and looks like the main competition. TIZ A DIXIE DANCER shows three even efforts in each of his starts.
BELIEVE IN KITTEN takes a big drop in class in his first start in over a year, but shows some solid works recently and will be tough to beat here if he’s ready. MY NISTEROOY has won two in a row coming into tonight and has a win over the track. HURRICANE PASS just missed last time out at Indiana Grand and is a threat.
TAP THAT WORD has been off since October when he won by five at Mountaineer. He’s run well on both the dirt and turf, so he shouldn’t mind the switch in surfaces tonight, give him a slight edge in a well-matched allowance field. SATURDAY LAUNCH comes in off a few even efforts against slightly tougher, but a return to the form he showed when he won this summer at Ellis would make him the one to beat with Jimenez picking up the mount. CUP OF JOY makes her first start since June, but has two wins over the track and would be no surprise here.
KACHINA MANA drops in class after a disappointing effort last time out, but is capable of better. Give her the edge to pick up the maiden win tonight. SEDGE POND was well beaten as the favorite at Hawthorne in her last, but figures to move forward in her second start back from the layoff and looks like the one to beat. VICTORIA STATION drops in class after a second place finish at Churchill last time out and looks capable of running well tonight.
